Thomas Jefferson: tax the Wealthy on a Geometric scale

by: Zappatero

Would Dems quote a Founder on tax policy in order to finally rebut the destructive and anti-democratic steamroller that is Republican economic policy?
Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions or property in geometrical progression as they rise.

A progressive tax on the wealthiest Americans. A Jefferson fetishist (I'd say fraud) like Jon Caldara  might even agree. But what about our side?

Can Michael Bennet vote for enough bills favorable to Citi, Wells Fargo, and Goldman to make Republicans support him?

Will Mark Udall's tepid forays into bipartisanship stop them from calling him a "Boulder Liberal" next time out?

Should Betsy Markey have triangulated further against those who voted her in office?

Should John Salazar have completely forgotten he was ever a (D) in that hideous video?

The answer should be obvious today as it was on that stroll Jefferson took in pre-revolutionary France. Would Democrats be so bold as to follow in a Founder's footsteps?

Dems on Taxes: Fail

I think Democrats have put the finishing touches on two years' of sub-par policy development and political failure with their refusal to vote on ending the Bush tax giveaways to the rich while maintaining the middle-class tax cuts.  This issue was as clear cut as we will likely ever see on any issue: extending the middle-class tax cuts and ending the rich's tax giveaways has clear, overwhelming support from Democrats, Unaffiliateds and Republicans alike.  Numerous advocacy groups and political organizations did extensive polling on the subject and they all came back with the same answer.  And yet, the House and Senate have decided to paralyze themselves (again) regarding which chamber should take up the issue first, etc., etc., etc.  They continue to concern themselves with the tiniest of details that should be easily handled and about which voters simply do not care.
