There seems to be no end to the Conservatives willingness to eat their own. This is especially true if one is willing to work with Democrats in any way, shape or form. This is what is happening to Sen. Lindsey Graham this week. At the same Tea Party event where Tom Tancredo, the conservative anti-immigration clown, said we should send the President back to Kenya, another speaker insisted on knowing if the South Carolina Senator was gay or not.
Now, you would think this really does not matter, and you would be right, if the conservative base of the Republican party had any decency at all, but sadly that is not the case. William Gheen of the ultra-right wing anti-immigration group asked if Sen. Graham was, in his words, selling out his countrymen because he was gay.
Mr. Gheen, who has made the list of top 20 nativist leaders according the Southern Poverty Law Center today issued a press release saying:
"US Senator Lindsey Graham is gay and while many people in South Carolina and Washington DC know that, the general public and Graham's constituents do not," said William Gheen President of ALIPAC. "I personally do not care about Graham's private life, but in this situation his desire to keep this a secret may explain why he is doing a lot of political dirty work for others who have the power to reveal his secrets. Senator Graham needs to come out of the closet inside that log cabin so the public can rest assured he is not being manipulated with his secret."
