Scott McInnis

Why Cheating Matters and Republican Cognitive Dissonance

by: Fong

Sat Jul 17, 2010 at 12:45:44 PM MST

Since the media found out Scott McInnis plagiarized something he was paid $2000 a page for and then shirked responsibility for said plagiarism, Hickenlooper's polling is pulling ahead of his Conservative cribbing opponent for the first time.

But on Scott McInnis' facebook fanpage you can see a few examples of people who don't mind that he did what he did and will still emphatically support him.

What does this show? In part it proves some Republicans don't care about competent work. They don't care about honesty or personal responsibility in their leaders. In the face of uncomfortable facts, some people can manage to rationalize and ultimately discount demonstrations of unscrupulous actions. But this is nothing new, as Allison Kilkenny of Citizen Radio (link on the sidebar) wrote about last week, people would rather cling to some strongly held beliefs, even when evidence show those beliefs to be false.

In addition to that, she happens to have a few paragraphs on cheating:

GOP Gubers Open Thread

by: Fong

Republican Gubernatorial candidates Scott McInnis is doing his best to shirk his responsibility about a paper he wrote that was plagiarized, for which he received several hundred thousand dollars, and Dan Maes can't muster up the skills to lead an organization that can abide by the laws applicable to it.

Now the money from GOP donors will flow into the legislative races. Let's watch those Senate seats, eh?

Hickenlooper Has A Website

by: Fong

Thu May 20, 2010 at 14:33:22 PM MST

(editor's note: I screwed this up, it's not a new site, it's an updated site. Still, let's vote for the non-stigmatized logo, mmkay?)

It's been about four months since he announced so this is a GREAT site: Hickenlooperforcolorado.

There is a contest to choose between the two logos. Click on the image to submit your suggestion. I really, really, really hope you don't pick "Hick for gov". I believe that one should only go on beer coasters under Budweiser. Let's let the Republicans make the racist connotations this time around, okey?

Scott McInnis: Chairman for Choice

by: WHC

Thu May 13, 2010 at 10:49:36 AM MST

(Oh, Scotty boy, the tubes, the tubes are crawling
with evidence, you've no integrity... - promoted by Fong

In another edition of Things that Make me Sick, Scott McInnis is flip-flopping on the most sacred of things in life: freedom of choice (get it?).

The Denver Post shows us that it was just last year Scott McInnis was chairman of Republicans for Choice. This year, by coming out in support of the latest rendition of the horribly slaughtered personhood amendment of 2008, he denies having any knowledge of his chairmanship that whatsoever.

Scott, we aren't going to let this go. Not only do you support unconstitutional profiling, you're now playing career politician with women's lives. Set the record straight. You can't just shave us off like some unwanted scumstache.

McInnis Burns Through the Dough

by: Fong

Wed May 05, 2010 at 11:33:04 AM MST

And he's outraised by Hickenlooper this quarter who has nearly twice as much cash on hand.

GJ Sentinal

McInnis paid nearly $84,000 for a fundraising event to Arena Communications of Salt Lake City; $33,400 to Notion One, a Denver computer and consulting firm; $30,000 to political consultant Michael Hess; $24,300 to Barbara Card, a political consultant; $20,000 to Shamrock Consulting in Littleton; more than $20,000 to two Virginia consulting firms; and $14,452 to his campaign finance director, Jessica Bogar (editor's note: Jessica should change her last name to Bogart).

Hickenlooper has been a skin-flint by comparison.

His biggest expenses so far were for nearly $90,000 to a Maryland company for mail services and $13,450 to On-Sight Public Affairs in Denver.

The takeaway: Mcinnis has no problem donating copious amounts of money to numerous consulting firms and passes the buck regarding charities.

Wednesday Roundup, McInnis Gives The "Race" To Hickenlooper

by: Fong

Wed Apr 28, 2010 at 10:32:11 AM MST

The biggest story in progressive politics is from the Colorado Independent regarding what Scott McInnis said about Arizona's new racist immigration laws.

He said

"Finally some governor stood up and said 'We are stopping the retreat. No more retreat. Federal government if you are not going to do it, we are going to do it'... because [illegal immigration] has impacts to all the parties involved in the state of Arizona... By the way, if a person has a driver's license or a government I.D., there is a presumption of citizenship. That is not the issue. The issue is that government refuses to acknowledge that illegal means illegal."

Even Tom Tancredo doesn't want the police to randomlypull people over because they're suspected of being... something...but he wants it to be clear: like a unicorn, the racial profiling Arizona law is KICK ASS!

Protesters will gather at Coors Field while the Rockies play the AZ Diamondbacks at to protest the Arizona lawfrom 12:30 to 1:30.

Ooh! And if you didn't know, we're more decentralized n stuff. Why the Left Wins Online

Five Boulder activists were arrested for trespassing after a demonstration with fake windmills on top of piles of coal at an Xcel plant.

Enterprise Zones now have a $250,000.00 cap on their tax credit for the next two years but they'll get it all back. I caught a bit of the debate about it yesterday and Representative BJ Nikkel said "I can't believe we're still fighting for Colorado businesses. This is not something we should be doing." Of course I'm taking that out of context but it's still funny.

College tuition structure might get a new model. I wish this article would be more specific.
