As Tip O'Neil would have said today, "All politics is Local 7."
The UFCW was out in force at the Labor Day picnic in Denver's Lincoln Park. Along with Colorado Jobs with Justice, and members of many other labor and community groups, they grilled up hotdogs and enjoyed one of our final days of summer.
Lots of people in the politics trade showed up as well. Both Andrew Romanoff and Michael Bennett made appearances. Photos and stories about them and more after the jump.
Now that a new member sits in her term limited seat in the House, former Wheat Ridge Representative Cheri Jahn (HD-24) has found a job in another branch of Government. She will be serving at the pleasure of the Governor on the Small Business Council.
This will give her a bridge of service between her work at the legislature (that included a stint on their Business Affairs and Labor Committee) and the expiration of Moe Keller's final Senate term (SD-20) in 2010.
Jahn is expected to run for that office, and would likely face the more labor friendly former RTD Board Member, Dave Ruchman in a primary. This position boosts Jahn's chances, but Ritter might find himself in another fight with the unions, if they choose Ruchman and Ritter throws his weight behind Jahn.
