Would the downside of giving money to Colorado Springs Republicans be outweighed by MIC checking the Anti-government psychosis of Grover Norquist:
The El Paso County Republicans are incapable of throwing a par-tay, even in honor of the greatest Republican who ever played father to a chimp, without kicking off some sort of internal squabble, protest, riot, flame war, or party purging.
Into the fray comes this latest missive:
Dear El Paso County Republicans:
There has been much controversy surrounding the Reagan Gala and its guest speaker Grover Norquist. It is my responsibility to investigate these matters and decide the best course of action as I fulfill my obligations as Vice-Chairman. It is also my duty to be honest and straight forward with the republicans (sic) that elected me.
After being presented with much information and conducting my own meticulous research I have decided that I cannot, in good conscience, attend the Reagan Gala on November 12th, 2011. I say this not to condemn our local party, but rather to affirm my own personal integrity. At best, Grover Norquist has too many leftist, radical Islamic ties that make him a poor choice to be honored at one of our events. In my opinion, his associations and dealings bring into question his commitment to our conservative ideals and beliefs. Love how the El Paso County Republican Party Vice-Chair gives the Freudian slip to capitalizing his party's name.
Love even more how Grover Norquist is called a "leftist" by a Springs Repub -- Only in Colorado.
The thrill of MIC checking this creep would be sublime. But no, I will not be giving one red cent to El Paso County Republicans. No how, no way, Jose........
And P.S. to Democrats who are witnessing this intra-party frack-up: There are many Colorado independents who do think Grover Norquist is a lefty. I hope those are not the independents you are constantly striving to impress, because I'm not so sure you understand the difference among Colorado's self-described political free-marketeers.

How do you know a Republican is lying about earmarks? Whenever liars like Doug Lamborn (R - Military-Industrial Complex) say they hate them:After taking control of the House of Representatives last November, congressional Republicans came up with a surefire way to cut government spending and shrink the federal deficit - ban earmarks.
U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, who represents Colorado Springs, wrote an editorial supporting the ban, and targeted what he called "an important first step toward fundamentally changing the way taxpayer dollars are spent in Washington."
By the time he threw his support behind the ban, Lamborn had requested at least $156 million in earmarks, much of it for military bases in his Colorado district, but also tens of millions in contracts for companies that had donated to his campaign.
From the 2008 through 2010 fiscal years, Lamborn got the second-highest amount of earmark money of the 10 Colorado House members who served during those years, including three who were in the House for a part of that time - Reps. Marilyn Musgrave, Tom Tancredo and Sen. Mark Udall. It's never a surprise to me that Republicans can lie about, and get away with, their love of family values, their hatred of earmarks, their concern about the (Democratic) debt, their disgust with (Democratic) wars. Dougie-boy says he's a good Christian. In Colorado Springs that means funding a perpetual war machine to make sure we can kill our enemies, sending our young off to fight at a moment's notice, and making sure our major corporations never want for a profit.
Our God is bigger than their God, isn't He?
UPDATE: Add profligate porker Michelle Bachmann to the list:

(There are no "time-outs" - promoted by Fong)
Colorado Springs, home of groups such as Focus on the Family, apparently has had enough with their Ayn Rand experiment. Their Mayor is calling for a time out from their own version of the Orwellian named "Tax Payer Bill of Rights"
Rivera wants the change because the city's budget has been shrinking dramatically during the nation's economic plunge. TABOR sets a revenue cap for the city government that's based on what have been declining collections of sales and use taxes, meaning it could be years before the city could spend at pre-recession levels. Rivera said such a TABOR timeout would be the only way city government can recover from the economic recession.
More after the jump...(including a poll!)
