Some very crafty people are advertising on liberal blogs with the hidden agenda item of killing Social Security. The primary ads (which also have variations on TV) show a fictional character who is concerned with the national debt. There's one here at SquareState this very moment - it's been there since just after the last election to the immediate left of the Diaries list.
The primary perpetrators of this issue are Billionaire Pete Peterson, his dutiful son, and the foundation that was created to attack Social Security for the benefit of billionaires like the Petersons, the financial institutions that will manage this essential piece of our diminishing social contract, and all their heirs who just received another tax break from President Barack Obama: Michael Peterson, who is vice chairman of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, has directed the spending of $6 million on the "Owe No" campaign that features commercials in Denver.

Peterson, whose father is a former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, says the family foundation feels this is the perfect time to discuss solutions, citing exit polls that state the issue is top of mind for many American voters. The commercial is one of three that will air in Denver over the next two months. Stan Matsunaka ignorantly gave bipartisan cred to The Peterson Foundation's half-true assertions made in the ads:
