Dougie-boy Lamborn has just made the final doo-doo step. And then he flung it against the walls and told everyone to look at his pretty picture. Doug's recorded threats to some critical voters has now reached the pages of both the Denver and Huffington Posts. Doug previously voted against stricter dog-fighting laws. Though it was partly self-serving, previous Representative Joel Hefley urged a no-vote in the 2006 race that Doug eventually won. Doug also was aced out of the Piñon Canyon discussion by the other members of the Colorado delegation to the point where he was "blindsided" by the goings on. Here are Doug's threats, as printed by the Post: |
| Zappatero :: Today's worst person in the world: Doug Lamborn |
"Now there are consequences to this kind of thing, but I would like to work with you in a way that is best for everyone here concerned."
He didn't stop there, though. The message cut off before his inner Tony Soprano could kick in: "Hello, this is Doug Lamborn again, I'm finishing up my message from a moment ago. I got cut off. It is critical that you get back to me as soon as possible on this because I'll be going back to Washington here in a few days and I have to make sure that this is resolved one way or another. And like I said I'd rather resolve this on a Scriptural level but if you are unwilling to do that I will be forced to take other steps, which I would rather not have to do."
I knew Doug was stupid, and that he had no business being in congress representing the Fighting Fifth. And I knew he didn't have the experience or thoughtfulness to handle the complexities of the issues our nation is facing. But this is beyond the pale. This will be repudiated even by the most rabid local wingers. And this, most likely, will get Doug on Keith Olberman's Worst Person in the World list -- if I have anything to do with it. And maybe this'll get us another resignation from congress, once again, for the rank ineptitude and moral failings of just another hack Republican. But it won't be enough for Republicans to see the vacuum their party has inhabited. That will have to be for another day.
