The attempted swift boating of Bill Ritter with the attack ad released by Trailhead Coloradans for "Just us" illustrates the inherent cynicism and hypocrisy of the GOP Oligarchs.

Mike Littwin at the Rocky condenses it:

Why would anyone possibly cheapen a story that's so heartbreaking on its own merits by intentionally fudging the facts of the case - unless, of course, you couldn't care less about the case?

Or maybe you think the folks at Trailhead are suddenly outraged by this injustice. I didn't see Bruce Benson picketing City Hall at the time.

And the kicker:

It's absurd, of course, as everyone knows who watches Law & Order. You don't become a district attorney because you like criminals. We all know how the system works and how, without plea bargains, it wouldn't work.

Even the people at Trailhead know. If they didn't, major Trailhead funder Pete Coors presumably wouldn't have plea-bargained his recent DUI case.

What Littwin fails to realize with ‘Plea Bargain’ Pete is our old favorite: it's OK if you're a Republican.

This is such bullshit. (0.00 / 0)
These people are so deserving of defeat.  As for cheapening the story, I wonder what the deal is with the victims in this case and this despicable ad.  9 News has been calling for the dishonest stuff in the ad to be cut.

If You Listen to Fools, the Mob Rules!!!!

Take 'em all to trial, then throw them in prison (0.00 / 0)
Of course, that would take even more than the $533.1 million  per year that our state already spends on locking people up.  And, for anyone who has been to the Denver Courthouse, one can see that this would mean adding judges and courtrooms to accomodate the additional trials resulting from a reduction in plea-bargained cases.  Nevermind that Colorado's incarceration rate is 438 per 100,000 adult residents--a 500% increase since 1980, and a rate that exceeds that of South Africa, Israel, Mexico, England, Australia, and China, among others.

Logistically, it would have been very difficult for Ritter's office to take more cases to trial than it did.  As even John Suthers admitted, Ritter's plea bargain rate was right at about the average for a large metropolitan DA's office.  Additionally, trials are (a) expensive, (b) time-consuming, and (c) full of uncertainty.

Ah, but if the (0.00 / 0)
system were privatized, we could build all the courts we wanted, all the prisons to hold all the new miscreants, and make huge profits to boot!

Trailhead (or their newly renamed doppleganger) doesn't give a lick about the "victim" or about the process.  They exist only to lie and smear those they oppose.  It's Gov. Owens, the Coors family, and Benson all in one handy package.
