I'm at the colorado fiscal policy institute's budget works seminar.  I'll write about the event over the weekend.

Of course that means I'm not listening to music right now, but feel free to post you own random tens, genius tens, etc. anyway.

update specific fundraising for Soapblox at https://secure.actblue.com/con...
I'll add the fundraising thermometer and stuff later.

Why Whither Local "News"papers? (0.00 / 0)
Sunday Post has an article in the online edition that explains all by it's lonely self why the local "News"papers are whithering away.  Inspite of the cost of print, there is no true cost of electrons to put a full story online.
LARIMER COUNTY - Larimer County Republicans have chosen state Rep. Kevin Lundberg to fill a vacant seat in the state Senate.

Steve Johnson stepped down from the seat last week to become a county commissioner.

A committee made up of GOP precinct chairs and other county leaders voted 88-42 for Lundberg, 56, who lives near Berthoud.

This is the who, what, where, when and why that I did not learn in journalism classes.  I learned that a story is always a full book pared down to a minimum of three paragraphs, hopefully with three sentences in each paragraph.  Written to draw the reader into the story and keep them there while their side vision perused the ads.

The reason for newspapers is for news.  This could not have come from a press release.  There is more info in the first paragraph of a press release than there is in this entire "article".
Why whither the "news"paper, you can read it right there.
