What about Pam Bennett to Replace Karen Middleton?

by: Fong

Wed Jul 28, 2010 at 14:13:12 PM MST

HD42 Aurora Rep Karen Middleton (D) has stepped down from her position in the legislature. Last session the talk of the dome was that she was best-poised to take become Speaker of the House after Terrance Carroll left via term limits. Since that's now out of the question, who will take her place in the very Democratic district of Saudi Aurora?

The Denver Post mentions Rhonda Fields as a potential contender.

But what about Pam Bennett?  She could become the highest office holder of a transgender woman in the nation. Though she lost her bid for Aurora City Council, she's done a lot of work and with 48% of registered voters Dems, it seems like a good time to act.

She hasn't changed her website yet but the announcement just came today.

Whoever runs, they have 97 days to make it work.

Go Pam!
She has worked hard and knows her district very well!

Check that Fong
The Post (at least in what's been published so far) is NOT suggesting Mike Garcia might take Middleton's place. Just mentioning she replaced him when he resigned.

Ah yes,
My bad. Everyone I've spoken to has mentioned him as a potential so I connected the two. You're right, the DP does not cite him as a potential. Thx

Seriously?
He's ready for his comeback?

Thank You For Your Support
I appreciate the wonderful support and requests for me to run for HD42. I will not be running for the seat right now. However, I do look forward to running for office in the near future.

I have a brief statement posted on my website Pam Bennett For Aurora.

Last night I attended a local Drinking Liberally event and it brought back wonderful memories of Drinking Liberally Denver.

This is a good year to be in politics, at any level.  However, we need Progressives out there fighting to put Progressives in to office and keep the good people already there.

Again, thank you and I look forward to being on the campaign trail soon.
Pam
