But, I hope that the legislature stops becoming such a Denver/Boulder boy's club. It would be good if the Party were to assert its diversity both in gender and region.

We are finally shedding the "Democrats can't win statewide" label, and I want the Republicans to wear that for a change. I would like us to illustrate that Republicans can only win in small extremist enclaves, and that the Democratic Party is really the one that reflects Colorado's mainstream.

And on the gender front, it is not like we don't have both a strong constituency and strong candidates there. With someone as skillful as Anne McGihon on our bench, it would be a shame not to cap her time in the House with a chance to show her leadership.

We'll see when they announce Caucus Chair and Whip.

It's disappointing not to have a woman included in the House Dems' leadership -- especially since 19 of the House Dems are women.

how did it not happen?  It seems there is such a conscious effort at diversity in most Dem things I've see organized.  

I wish I knew more about it.

But people consider the areas around Denver to be swing.  And last I checked, Andy Kerr is from Jefferson County.  The thing is, that we have plenty of seats around Denver and Boulder, but also in the mountains and around Pueblo, Fort Collins, Greeley and even Colorado Springs.  The truth is, we had someone tapped well outside the Denver/Boulder area and he lost his seat due to the heavy hitting of Palin and McCain in Grand Junction.  Based on a lot of the people in the State House, I think Terrance Carroll was the most qualified for speaker without Bernie Beuscher in the mix.
