GOP Gubers Open Thread

by: Fong

Wed Jul 14, 2010 at 11:20:06 AM MST

Republican Gubernatorial candidates Scott McInnis is doing his best to shirk his responsibility about a paper he wrote that was plagiarized, for which he received several hundred thousand dollars, and Dan Maes can't muster up the skills to lead an organization that can abide by the laws applicable to it.

Now the money from GOP donors will flow into the legislative races. Let's watch those Senate seats, eh?

someone at Hick's office is opening the champagne
Without a strong governor's candidate to help unify the GOP, they are in for a world of hurt across the board.  Sure Buck/Norton will be there to help, but it's one less player in their final effort.

Sorry Michael Bennet, but I'm a real person too

I'm trying to not get my hopes too high
Hickenlooper needs to keep his head down and focus on being the best candidate he can be. We are relying on him to be the leader of the party Ritter never was.

Of course these scandals make the Hick campaign think we've nowhere else to go.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a race where the best comes from all the candidates and it's all legit? Why can't our systems produce that?

scandals are sexy?
like it or not, people want to see/read about the bad stuff.  A candidate caught in even a minor scandal will get more press than a major policy announcement.  It's a sad state of affairs in our media.

No press is not bad press?

The Hasan Foundation wants the $300,000 back from McInnis!
They're finished.
This will never die and every time McInnis speaks with another lawyer, this will be the first thing on their mind.

I'm so happy his true colors are showing.

My wish
is that it would be Romanoff running for guv. I still think he would have made a good governor.

he'll make a better senator :)

He'd make a better Governor
and i'm not going to have this discussion ever again.

Part of this surprises me
The part where people seemingly had an expectation that Republicans had original thoughts of their own.

I mean, seriously?

The timing is really bad for the GOP
It's too close to the primary for the party bosses to force McInnis out and replace with him another primary contender.  The best they can hope for is if McInnis beats Maes in the primary, then McInnis can drop out and the party bosses replace him with a more viable nominee.

So who would be the GOP nominee replacement?

If I had to narrow my potential guesses to one, it would be Bob Schaffer.
