| Saturday, August 23rd, was my travel day down the mountain to Denver where I had two events to attend. The first was a DNC Hispanic caucus dinner with Secretary Federico Pena and a media welcoming reception at Elitch's Garden amusement park. (sorry no pics)
Sunday, August 24th was a free day. There were several parties that I planned to attend, but after spending most of the morning warming up tamales for the garden party, I didn't have time to attend the Colorado Host Committee Pachanga, the delegate opening night reception benefit for NOLA or Al Giordano's fundraiser.
The Colorado delegation was invited to brunch at our Governors Mansion. The Governor, Bill Ritter, had a house full of delegates and party officials that dined in the beautiful garden on a perfect, blue sky day. I didn't snap any photos of the party - forgot my camera - ugh.
Then it was on to Frankenoid's Bloggers Open House and Garden Party. It was a pleasure to welcome fellow bloggers to Colorado with Colorado food like Olathe Sweet Corn, Rocky Ford Melon, handmade pork and chicken tamales and of course the Chocolate Fountain - a staple at our blogger events.
This photo is of two visiting bloggers - BenGoshi (who is also a Kossack) and a radio show host both from Alabama. (Sorry I can't find her business card to name her right now.)
These two are Colorado bloggers Brahman Colorado (a Kossack) and Susan the Neon Nurse (Square State).
The rest of my evening was spent at Red Rock Amphitheater - my favorite concert venue and the best in world in my biased opinion - to see Dave Matthews do a two man show. It was the first time I have seen Dave Matthews. He had a hard time because he was either high or had a cold. I don't know him well enough to know. But he did play a good guitar! (Sorry, pics not good enough to share.)
Every morning, the Colorado delegation met for a breakfast at 7:30am paid for by corporations and other groups. Dr. Richard Baca is one of my favorite Western Colorado people. He now works for Congressman John Salazar (CO-03).
Monday's DNC Hispanic Caucus meeting heard from Senator Hillary Clinton. She was genuinely loved by the many of the Latinos that attended. She spoke of uniting behind Senator Obama and about her support for and from the Hispanic community over the years.
California DNC Committeeman, Steve Ybarra with Obamanos bumper sticker.
After the HDNC meeting, I spent the afternoon at the Big Tent. I want to thank all that made the blogger media center possible. I had only enough time to write one story on my blog, Green Chile Democrats. The week was just too busy as a delegate and DNC committee member to attend more often. Fortunately, Something the Dog Said and Brahman Colorado used the Green Chile pass and wrote several stories from the tent. By all accounts, the Big Tent was a huge success and appreciated by all. Good going bloggers!
While heading to a Jared Polis event, fellow Colorado delegate Jonathan Singer and I eyed Congressman Edward Markey (MA-07-Progressive). He took a picture with us.
Monday night at the convention was great. Michelle Obama was great. What else can I say....great night! Here is a photo of the Colorado delegation on the floor. (Sorry, my Michelle Obama photos didn't come out. As I said, front row seats didn't improve my photography skills.)
Wednesday night we saw DCCC'S Rep. Chris Van Hollen introduced the new congressional candidates. We arrived early to see Colorado's own Jared Polis who just won a hotly contested primary for district 2.
Jared Polis' partner Marlon Reis sits with us as we await Jared's arrival on stage.
Jared's Campaign manager Robert Becker with the delegation to see Jared on stage.
Colorado's Jared Polis (CO-02) candidate on stage! Front row seats, baby!
Colorado's turn for roll call vote! Front row, Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07), Sen. Ken Salazar and Chairwoman Pat Waak.
After Senator Biden's acceptance speech, Senator Obama joins him on stage. Wow!!
Now, let's go out and make a difference. Join an event to help witn the election in your area at Barack Obama web page.
Yes. We. Can. win this election if we all get out and work!
Thanks to everyone that came to Colorado to share this historic experience. xposted at the Big Orange.
