YES WE CAN!  Crisanta Duran and Ed Perlmutter celebrate the nomination of Barack Obama.

Aaron Silverstein :: Yes We Can! (Liveblog part 2)

Congressman Ed Perlmutter

Colorado State Rep. Morgan Carroll

Colorado Statesman reporter John Schroyer

Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez

Colorado Delegate Sarah Kihm

6:30 Had a chance to talk to Brian Gonzales, a delegate from Aspen, about his experience as a Hillary delegate. Sen. Clinton finally "nailed it home" to him that we have to come together. He is hoping now that a couple of the other Colorado delegates for Clinton that are not there yet will come around to understanding how important it is that we come together.

Colorado Clinton delegate Brian Gonzales reacts to Hillary Clinton's call for a vote by acclamation rather than role call, which thereby brought to an end the race for the Democratic nomination.

Madeleine Albright has a lot of fans in this room. People who have already gotten a little jaded by political celebrity are reaching for their cameras. If she and Etheridge did a set together, watch out.

Greetings from the Convention floor with Aaron (4.00 / 1)
and the Colorado delegation. Wow! We have a nominee!  Senator Barack Obama is the nominee of the Democratic Party for U.S. President . There is great excitement here on the floor. I'll see if I can get some others to add a comment.  Wow! We did it!

GreenChile on the town report:
Did you see the really sharp looking jacket that Rep. DeLauro was wearing while the Speaker and all women Representatives were on stage?
Well, I was in the store last night on Larimer Street when the Congresswoman was buying the jacket at Juanita Chacon's favorite store - Mariel's. Juanita if you are reading this, make sure to tell Denise that the jacket was on stage tonight.  What fun!

Julie Hicks says that this is the best convention ever! It is such a great convention that she doesn't want to come to another because nothing will ever top Denver in 2008. It is smoking!

A comment from Jayne Bilberry (0.00 / 0)
Jayne is our delegate from the Western Slope from CO-03

The emotions of being here was like ten new years eves all in one! I am honored in my responsibility as a host state delegate, but at that moment you're just filled with... I don't know... it is like being Cinderella. I am filled with so much happiness that we are united. Our state delegation was clapping when  any state was unanimous and... Oh wow! Melissa Etheridge!... say 'to be continued'

Comment from Jared Polis (0.00 / 0)
Rep. Jared Polis (D - Future) just walked by and asked if I was live blogging. I asked him for a quote.

I'm just excited. Here in Denver, on the national stage, and what a great line up of speakers.

It is getting crowded (0.00 / 0)
The guests are being rousted out of the seats. Bill Clinton is approaching.

BIIIIILLLLLLLL! (0.00 / 0)
(President C. is in the House)
They used "Chain of Fools" as the intro music.
Great song, but... really?

Don't stop... (0.00 / 0)
Then as Bill was walking on they played "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow. Yesterday's gone, Yesterday's gone."... really? For Bill?

Ah well, this speech is going Unityriffic, so go watch on TV. This moment is made for the HD camera.

John Kerry (0.00 / 0)
Of course, if you went to watch this on tv, you wouldn't know that John Kerry is about to come out.

Great lines in Kerry's speech (0.00 / 0)
Spot on John.

[ Parent ]
Power (0.00 / 0)
Great soundbites.

"Barack Obama is ready to be President."

"More impressed by the power of our example than an example of our power."

John Kerry (0.00 / 0)
I like what Sen. Kerry is saying, but bringing him out after Bill Clinton is like having Harry Reid follow Melissa Etheridge.

I am loving this "I know you are, what am I" stuff. If he had turned the tables and taken the fight on the Republicans, we would have had Kerry for eight years and we would be electing President Edwards this year.

Watching on C-Span (4.00 / 2)
My new hobby is watching everything on C-Span and yelling out names when I see people.  So far, the CO stars of C-Span are:

-Rep Perlmutter
-Sen Salazar
-Pat Waak
-Rep Rosemary Marshall
-Crisanta Duran
-Awilda Marquez
-Polly Baca

Also I'm yelling 'arugula' at the TV whenever a)the punditry says something that implies Dems are elitist or b)Dems say something elitist.

Those of us not in Denver for this have to make our own fun...

I also saw (4.00 / 1)
Veronica Barela and Debbie Marquez.

Illegal is never a noun
