Mark Udall(D) has gained on his Republican Opponent in Colorado's open US Senate seat.  The current Senator, Republican Wayne Allard, who is consistently ranked as one of the worst Senators in the nation, is retiring.

The Rasmussen Poll shows an improvment for Udall, he now leads 47 (47), 41 (43) over scandal plagued Schaffer.  With 'leaners', he goes over the half-way mark: 50 (49), 42 (46).  (July numbers in parens).

Rasmussen goes on to explain:

A Udall win could mean more bad news for the Republicans in the Senate, who are at risk of losing even more seats to the Democrats this fall. Other Republican seats at risk include Alaska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Colorado, Mississippi, Kansas, Virginia and Kentucky.

Swift-boat money will soon be flying into the state for Club for Growth ads.  But there have already been some pretty outrageous negative ads against Udall by third-parties, so I am unsure how this will affect the race.

UPDATE:  Thanks to Magster over at DKos, there is a poll out in the Rocky Mountain News That shows Udall up 44-38.  The article pretty much states that this campaign is about to go Nuclear.  I'm holding the poll suspect because it has third-party candidates, one receiving 5% of the vote.

UPDATE2: Ras is not so kind to Obama.  McCain is up 49-48 with leaners.  Obama seems to slipping away in this state.  Hopefully, the convention will turn things around.

Ras... (0.00 / 0)
Goes on to say that Udall's lead is only 4% among unaffiliated voters, but was 21% last month.  I don't know how he gains 2% and looses the biggest block of voters in the state.

As you drill down... (4.00 / 1)
and start assessing subgroups in the poll, the MOE goes up because you have a smaller sample.

I'm not sure how much more "nuclear" this one can get.  The anti-Udall ads look pretty bad to me.  Generally, though, a candidate going negative has to have some credibility to build on.  I said it before, I think this race is over.

PS.  I'm part of the 10% that didn't vote for Udall on Tuesday.  I don't think it's OK for the government to spy on me.

That's an excellent point (4.00 / 1)
Schaffer's introductory ad blew up in his face (Mt. McKinley) and didn't play much anyway. The CEG ad touting his alternative energy credentials left a garish, cartoony impression so at odds with current "drill now! before it's too late!" message as to be meaningless. And he can't coast on last spring's ubiquitous "Thanks Bob!" ads forever. Movement conservatives know and love Bob, but he's a stranger to the rest of the state, as the "no opinion" numbers on the RMN poll show.

whoops, I saw this on Kos and then posted it here (4.00 / 2)

Pollster (0.00 / 0)
includes the Ras poll but not the CBS one. Since the images I post seem to be a bit larger than enjoyed, here's the link.

Got Nothing Wadhams (4.00 / 2)
is just going to be nasty and mean and lie and scream like the little man-child rat baby he is.

Schaffer, the mouth breather, will go down horribly.

Let's hope you gets some ICE agent to break the law for 'em like last time.

Swift-boat money will soon be flying into the state for Club for Growth ads. (4.00 / 2)
The ads have been airing heavily since last week on a $227,831 buy. Independent expenditure groups just entered a three-week window where they don't face 24-hour reporting requirements, so the spending against Udall could go up dramatically without anyone knowing it, or at least knowing the extent of it. The conservative Associated Builders and Contractors Free Enterprise Alliance started a massive radio campaign against Udall this week too.

Tivo and non tv watchers (4.00 / 1)
I can't remember the last time I've watched a tv commercial with my 30 second skip button.  Not watching tv all together is an even better option, and cheaper.
