| Later in the broadcast, Pate called Hurricane Katrina "the most overrated hurricane of all time," and further stated, "And here it is, two-and-a-half years, goin' on three years later, we're still talking about, you know, Katrina. That's 'cause a bunch of dumbasses in New Orleans weren't smart enough to get the hell outta there when they were given warnings."
From the August 5 broadcast of 630 KHOW-AM's The Peter Boyles Show, with guest host Lou Pate:
PATE: Here's the deal. McCain gets up there and says what he has to say because that's what he's trained and programmed to do as a politician with 35 years' experience. Obama gets up there, thinks we're stupid. This is what Bill Clinton did in '92. Again, I called Obama, yesterday I referred to him as John Kerry in blackface. I could even sing a little "Mammy" for ya. But he's really not John Kerry in blackface; he's Bill Clinton in blackface. I was wrong -- and I admit when I'm wrong -- but he is Bill Clinton in blackface. Because he's for hope; he's for change.

PATE: Now, remember Hurricane Katrina, the most overrated hurricane of all time? OK? And what happened in New Orleans was the fault of the mayor and the governor there, and then FEMA later. And here it is, two-and-a-half years, goin' on three years later, we're still talking about, you know, Katrina. That's 'cause a bunch of dumbasses in New Orleans weren't smart enough to get the hell outta there when they were given warnings. And then the city government didn't provide transportation for those who couldn't get out of there. Pretty amazing.
Pate, who formerly hosted a Seattle-based talk show on 710 KIRO-AM, previously has been a guest host for KHOW and another Clear Channel Communications Inc. station in Colorado. As Colorado Media Matters noted, as guest host for the August 8, 2007, broadcast of Boyles' show, Pate said that the "Muslim community ... [is] a violent community," adding, "They will kill ... their own wives; they will kill their own daughters"; and claimed that "genital mutilation [is] quite common there." Similarly, Pate stated on the January 26, 2007, broadcast of Newsradio 850 KOA's The Gunny Bob Show that Islam is "a violent religion" that "condones the killing of innocents."
