| Jay Marvin reminded us today that Big Oil Bob Schaffer tried to work some favors in Iraq and get and oil deal for the company he worked (works?) for. This was against State Department wishes and certainly showed that greed wins out over national security for B.O.B and today's Republican Party. (Was it ever different?)
And now looky here: despite all the denials from White House Oil™ and the pure-as-snow motives of all the NeoCon Iraq War Architects, Prime Architect Richard Perle is also trying to make some money off some sweet Iraqi crude: In March 2003, weeks after the invasion of Iraq, war architect Richard Perle resigned from his position on the Defense Policy Board in an attempt to "defuse a controversy over charges he stood to profit from the war in Iraq." |
| Zappatero :: Are B.O. Bob and War Architect Richard Perle friends? |
But that was oh-so-long ago:That hasn't stopped Perle from continuing to seek profit from the war. Citing documents and people close to the negotiations, the Wall Street Journal reports today that Perle "has been exploring going into the oil business in Iraq and Kazakhstan. One of the oil tracts, near the Kurdish city of Erbil, "is estimated to hold 150 million or more barrels of oil, would potentially be operated by Houston-based Endeavour International."
Maliki has tried to give us a reason to get out of Iraq more than once. Bush wasn't going to take "you won, already" for an answer -- as long as the oil fields were still up for grabs.
And theycan deny it all they want, but the actions of Bob Schaffer, Richard Perle, KBR, Halliburton, Blackwater and more have proven the initial lies of the Iraq War architects. They've also gotten 4,124 of our fine and brave soldiers killed, they've displaced and killed hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Iraqis, they've cost our country what will be Trillions of dollars, and they fattened the pocketbooks of Republicans everywhere. How conveeeeeenient.
And I'm sure they'd love to thank Bob and Richard Perle for playing their part in generating profits from the Iraq War. |
