Irony: 'McCain=Bush' Sign Incident Proves McCain=Bush

Statement from Denver Theatres and Arenas folks (0.00 / 0)

I got this statement through the office of my city council representative, Marcia Johnson:

"The City has long had a policy of prohibiting picketing, leafleting and demonstrations with the Denver Performing Arts Complex, including the Galleria area.  We are strict about our policy because of the potential for safety issues should crowds form in addition to the sizable DPAC crowds that enter and leave shows and events on an ongoing basis. The policy has been litigated in and upheld by federal court where it has been determined that DPAC, including the Galleria, is not a public forum.  The policy is enforced without regard to the content of the message or the viewpoint of the speaker.

"Typically, when made aware of the policy, demonstrators move willingly to an adjacent public sidewalk. For example, "McCain" button vendors moved yesterday when advised of the City's policy, and the Colorado Democrats relocated their press event to a public space to accommodate the policy. In the case of Ms.Kreck, police intervention was requested, resulting in a ticket for trespassing."

So our city government doesn't consider the Performing Arts Complex to be a public place!
