TPM is on the case:
Nothing too out of the ordinary there except that it turned out that the NAFF was actually a scam funded with a $3.6 million congressional earmark. Last week, a federal court in Colorado convicted Orr of 22 counts all tied to basically using bogus science to bilk the US government out of $2 million bucks disbursed under that earmark. Shires had already pled guilty to charges tied to his role in the operation -- he was treasurer -- and is awaiting sentencing next month.

Now, it's bad enough that Schaffer was serving on the board of the NAFF while it was in the process of scamming the federal government. But the fat earmark that funded the whole scheme suggests another question. Was it Schaffer that got the earmark that funded Orr's phony-baloney operation?

They've now spoken with every member of Congress from Colorado who could have inserted that earmark.  They all say nope t'wern't me.  All, expect Schaffer who seems to be hiding in an undisclosed location without a phone.  He's keeping his mouth shut without even a denial.  Wadhams can't be bothered to come to the phone either.

...I'm pretty sure someone out there knows what happened. So if you do, we want to hear from you. And if you're not that person, if you can just get Schaffer to answer the question, that would do nice too. We're just looking for the mystery earmarker.
johne :: About that earmark, everyone's talking except Schaffer
Speaking of undisclosed locations, I met the person assigned to track Schaffer yesterday.  That person is bored at their job as they can't find where he's going.  Heck, he skips even some Republican functions.

Everyone's talking (0.00 / 0)
Has anyone thought to ask Bill Orr or Scott Shires, since they were both there at its conception?

When was the last time he was seen in public? (4.00 / 2)
All I ever see is his little attack dog, Dick Wad, speaking on his behalf. How is he going to  campaign if he won't come out of hiding?

technically (4.00 / 1)
he was at last Satuday's GOP state convention where he was nominated as their official candidate.  Before that?  Who knows.

That's an absolute must-show (4.00 / 2)
It would have been pretty rude not to show up to your own nomination.

Told a dozen folks at DL last night about Schaffer's growing list of corruption issues.  Somehow, they were amazed he's made this many problems.  A couple people had heard about the NAFF topic, but were unclear about the details.  I asked them to go spread the truth about Schaffer far and wide.

Aah. Give the guy a break. (0.00 / 0)
Making such utterly stupid mistakes sucks the life out of a person.  And now everybody sees that he's an idiot.  He probably needed to spend some time with Dicky at an Undisclosed location.  He may reappear on November 5th.
