End of Session 2010 Open Thread

by: Fong

Wed May 12, 2010 at 15:15:41 PM MST

With only a few more hours left, let us bask the nostalgia of another session gone by as we prepare for the upcoming campaign season.

What are you most proud of? For what did you work? What was most heartbreaking? What was most annoying?

I'll mark myself
I loved payday lending, hated river rafting (HB1188), despised the fratboy-cabal of Senate Republicans, will miss picking on Dave Schutheis, and will always love Senator Evie Hudak, for whom I was able to briefly work.

I plan to continue picking on Schultheis.

My opinions here do not reflect any organization or group with which I may be affiliated.

Most Tragic: SB-191
This session has only one legacy: it doomed a generation of Coloradoans to substandard education, and it did it at the last minute, with no aforethought and with considerable malice toward professional educators.

It is crazy how last minute it was
Whats the story with that? How did the amendments turn out?

Minor tweaks - Johnston was okay with them,
so you can be sure they were bad for kids and teachers.  Not that he's gonna care - 10 years from now, when he's running for something bigger, he'll be the Freshman Senator Who Took On The Union And Won, and no one will recall what the fight was over.  They may, however, wonder why their schools are worse than they seem to remember.

Fwiw, I updated last night's diary a second time, to reflect the votes in the House and Senate.  Not much analysis at this point - gonna hafta wait until my blood pressure goes down a bit.

I was relatively proud of the "dirty dozen"
Amazon is full of sh*t and I'm fine with styrofoam to go containers being taxed.
