UPDATE: President Obama supports Bowles-Simpson, too. Is he a hypocrite?

by: Zappatero

Wed Aug 01, 2012 at 11:08:42 AM MST

So, we basically know Bowles-Simpson sucks raw eggs, will trash Social Security, yet is the Conventional Wisdom of our Betters in Washington for how to improve the economy.

Mitt Romney will surely be far worse on the economy and far more harmful to the middle class than Democrats. The Obama campaign attacks Mitt for that.

But Barack Obama supports Bowles-Simpson, too.

Will the president run against a policy in the campaign only to try to implement it the day he's sworn in? He's done it before, continues to do it now, and, sadly, I think will continue further if re-elected.

UPDATE: A Bullshit-spewing Dream Team of Mega-Millionaire CEO's, Corporate Shills, and Obama Surrogates is touring the nation to spread the fear of deficits in a way more amenable to those they want to propagandize:  a bus tour. It's coming to a city near you in September. Digby describes it thusly:

I have a feeling that nobody in the country knows who any of these people are or care. But I suspect that's not the point. This is all about building the Village consensus.

They're coming to Denver on September 21.

They will get nothing but good press, while the truth gets drown out by the noise and exhaust of a big shiny bus that says we have to gut Social Security or we'll all die now. And Mark Udall and Michael Bennet will be there to cheer on these sophisticated liars and their shiny objects.

List of shills below:

Obama and Romney are interchangeable.
One postures to the "left" and one to the "right," but there is no difference between who they actually serve and what they will actually do if elected. Heads they win, tails we lose.

A Romney victory is actually slightly better, because at least there would be some opposition to that agenda, plus that would make it easier to resurrect the Democratic Party's former position as a party that supported the public interest, plus we would be in a better position to sweep out the assholes of both major parties in years to come.

So in 2012, don't throw your vote away on the Obomney Twins. Make your vote count for something.
