Occupy Denver discusses First Amendment with Eli Stokols of Fox News

by: Zappatero

Wed Mar 14, 2012 at 17:55:31 PM MST

A contentious, some might say crude, discussion of the First Amendment with Eli Stokols of Fox News and some Occupy Denver protesters.

The takeaway for me:

  • You must respect Fox News Readers' live shots, they are very important and hair and makeup aren't cheap.
  • If Fox News says your story has been covered enough, it has been covered enough.
  • You must respect those who cover the news, or they won't cover you.

Those people are useless.

ugh, well
it was funny. Maybe Eli will report on BofA or Goldman Sachs, though I doubt they would respect him.

It would be funny
if it wasn't them. I know better than to think there's any merit to anything they do.

They took the bait.
Originally, the point of Occupy Wall Street was...Wall Street. Now the protesters are locked in an adolescent battle of wills with the police, and they're not bothering with any deep thinking about business and society. If I were a corporate PR man, this is exactly the outcome I'd want. Now the focus is off the economic justice issues, potential allies have been alienated, and the more active these little ragamuffins are the more they discredit themselves. Thanks to a dysfunctional organizational structure, anarchist negativity, and pseudo-Ghandian spinelessness Occupy Denver became a tragedy. Next time: Robert's Rules; anarchist muzzles; and spine implants for the granolas.

Yup
The biggest problem I witnessed was the arbitrary rule(r)-making, hypocrisy about those rule(r)s, and overt sexism.
