PDC Co-Chair suggests Obama Challenger "might get his attention as little else seems to have"

Dennis K Obduskey, Co-Chair of the Progressive Democrats of Colorado[PDC-PDA]suggests that it is time for a primary challenger to President Obama.

Dennis is also vice-chair of the Park County Democratic Party, a member of the State Central Committee, a member of the State Executive Committee from the Central Rural Region, a member of the state Platform Committee from House District 60, a member of the state Outreach Committee from the 6th Congressional District, and serves as secretary/treasurer for Senate District 4 and House District 60.

What he has to say undeniably carries weight among rank and file Colorado Democrats.

If Democratic Party Principles mean anything anymore, We Must have a Primary Challenger to Obama.

He is more a Moderate Republican then a Democrat.

He has done more to Split the Democratic Party than any politician I can remember, especially in Colorado in the 2010 Senate Nomination Primary.

His is Republican Rule. All progressive groups should Call for Primary Challengers.

If Obama should again win the primary, having had a respectful debate over Democratic Party Principles would unite rank and file Dems behind him.

Obama Stole Dems 2010 Senate Primary Nomination for "appointed" Sen. Michael Bennet but 57,497 "UnderVotes" by angry Romanoff progressives nearly Stopped them

An Obama Primary Challenger is crucial to the future of the Democratic Party
Dennis was very courageous in coming forward with this opinion piece and is to be congratulated.

Hope other join him.

But, Who Will Step Forward
Encouraging a primary challenger is one thing, stepping forward and doing so is quite another.  Who has the following and leadership to do so, and will that person?  It would be good, as you state, just as it helped things when Andrew Romanoff stepped forward in 2009 for last year's try.  But, who is viable and can and would do it?

They wouldn't necessarily need to be viable.
Winning the 2012 election is obviously a longshot. But just having a solid pro-democracy candidate on the ballot as an alternative to the heads-they-win/tales-we-lose paradigm would constitute a monumental first step. What we need most at this point is someone to rally around to get a groundswell movement started.

As far as 2012 viability, though, a few names  do come to mind: Feingold, Sanders, Dean. Anthony Weiner would have been a strong name for that list if he hadn't decided that carrying out the responsibilities of his office was less important to him than running around with his pants off.

Good Suggestions, but..
what I meant was who would run.  Sanders had already said no.  Feingold is making noises about Wisconsin Gov, and I don't think that Dean will.  Weiner, perhaps.  I guess we'll see if any choose to do so.

This is a terrific suggestion:

News from the California Progressive Caucus about a Primary Challenge

Dave Sirota sent out a re-tweet this morning that caught my attention. It directed to a news article concerning the California Progressive Caucus.  On July 30, the caucus passed a RESOLUTION in SUPPORT of a POSSIBLE 2012 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY CHALLENGE.  http://t.co/YHa56xi

The story is brief and is about a problem within their own state party (which will blow over) about the Progressive Caucus resolution.  The best part and worth listening to is the .mp3 link on the site -- a radio interview with Karen Bernal, Chair of the organization.

As should be obvious, we are not alone in feeling like the Progressive agenda has been ignored.  What's amazing to me is that the Progressive Agenda that I see is really the Democratic Party core values that I was brought up with.

Especially worth noting in the interview are references to the party platform, which many of us have worked hard on within Colorado as well.  I wrote an article awhile back about searching for a Platform that Has Meaning.  I'll backfill that into my new personal blog when I get a chance. http://dkocolo.blogspot.com

What people within my party have to understand is that there are millions of Americans wanting so badly to see the President succeed.  I'm one of them.  But saying things like he said during a news conference the other day about a need to "ignore the activists" on both the left and the right, did little to assure me that real change will happen.

DKO

Note:  To avoid confusion, Progressive Democrats of Colorado is an initiative of the state Democratic party.  PDA is a national organization.  We have similar agendas, but are not related.

Succeed?

Obama's agenda is virtually identical to the Bush/Cheney agenda. Why would you want him to succeed at implementing that agenda?

I appreciate your post here, but it sounds like maybe you haven't really come to terms with the enormity of Obama's betrayal and the futility of trying to salvage the Democratic Party.
